Suomy protecting Van D’am

After announcing Appselec as the first new sponsor for the 2018 season, we are excited to reveal that Suomy will be providing helmets for the Van D’am team next season.

Helmets serve an incredibly vital role in cycling and especially for a young racing team, only the best will do. They are the only line of protection between our heads and the road and therefore form an important role in kit.

Suomy are a well renowned Italian manufacturer who boast twelve world titles in motorcycle sports with their innovative helmet designs. Recently moving into the realm of cycling, Suomy is looking to apply that same passions and persistence to create some truly innovative helmets for road and mountain biking.

Suomy, through FE sports, will be providing the team with three different models. The Timeless helmet was designed for comfort, minimum weight and ventilation whilst maintaining maximum protection. The heavily vented helmet is a popular choice for the brand and the team will look to use these through the hot Australian summer.

The team will also be lucky enough to have the Suomy SFERA, their aero road helmet. This will give the team a huge boost through the many criteriums in the Australian calendar as well as the tight bunch finishes. Ventilation again is not an issue with Suomy providing a strong focus on delivering the most aero, but ventilated helmet possible.

For the time trials, Van D’am will wear the GT-R Suomy helmets. Suomy reflects their Italian heritage through this helmet including a lot of colours and flair in their long-tail TT helmet. With nine vents and six channels throughout the helmet, it is one of the most vented aero helmets on the market and the added bonus of visors means it is a highly competitive helmet.

Suomy see’s Van D’am racing as a clear way to provide support to the up and coming National Road Series. Even with a strong Italian background, the brand wants to provide the Australian market with the best helmets possible.

Stay tuned for more updates on our 2018 season including new rider announcements!
