Fred Icke Road Race Preview

This year the Fred Icke road race is the first round of the Towards Zero 2019 Victorian Road Series. Based in Creswick, the prestigious 138km race features 3 laps of an undulating exposed course. With hot weather and moderate winds forecasting a tough day in the saddle, the boys will need to ride as a cohesive unit to get the desired result. After a strong team showing at last year’s edition of the race were Liam Lawlor finished just outside the top 10, the team is confident in a result.

We are excited to bring in young Victorian riders Henry Dietze and Blake Agnoletto for their first official outings with the team. Henry will look to show his strong sprint capabilities if it comes together at the finish, while Blake will use his time trialling capabilities if the opportunity represents itself in the day breakaway.

For the first time in the team’s history, we come to a race with a strong sprint line up, with David Randall, Tristan Saunders, and Liam Lawlor all capable of a fast finish as well as Henry. Mixing it up as a team in sprints is not something we have great experience with, but it is something we wish to develop throughout the 2019 season.

Finishing up the team we have Jason Thomason and Mark Sampson. Jason will look to fill his Road Captain role and guide the boys into race winning situations, while Mark who returns to racing after a break and will be crucial in keeping the guys in good condition for the finish of the race.

Thanks to all our sponsors for getting us to the startline!
