Tour of the Great South Coast Day 3
3 days in, 3 riders down, day 3 of the Tour of Great South Coast was looking to be one of recovery in the aftermath of the carnage in which was day 2 of the tour.
The day based out of Naracoorte consisted of an NRS-special criterium circuit in the morning, followed by the new addition of a TTT in the afternoon.
We set about the day looking to defend 35th in general classification with time bonuses looking to be crucial in this… not really though. With us losing Jason out of the general classification yesterday, today was a fresh start for the boys who will be hunting stage results for the rest of the tour.
The criterium gave Henry a great opportunity on this, as he improved on previous days coming home in 11th, showing gained experience from the stage 1 criterium. Look to follow the progression as the 16-year-old learns to find his way to contesting the sprints.
The team time trial (or now team pursuit for us) was an opportunity for the boys to get some extra recovery before a couple of solid road stages ahead. With limited riders and GC not a concern, this was the best option with the win out of reach.
Henry, Tristan, Dave and Iven are all up for the fight over the coming days. Look for these boys to be chasing breakaways and stage glory, and most importantly some stress relief for team director Lachie Ambrose who has done more bandages than your local St Johns nurse these past few days.
Keep an eye on the Facebook page for some video content as we settle back into routine as usual.
