VDR is excited to announce Lachie Marshall will join the team on a permanent basis in 2020. Marshall guest rode for the team at the Sam Miranda Tour of the King Valley and the Tour of Tasmania, and despite breaking his collarbone in Tassie, has shown more than enough for the team to have confidence in giving him a full ride in 2020.
Marshall is a relative latecomer to the sport. Marshall spent most of his teens racing motorsport – with wins in the Victorian Formula Ford championships and racing Formula 3 with some success. This experience racing at a high level in another sport is evident and will be an asset to Marshall moving forward.
Marshall, who is currently completing his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science at ACU, brings some significant climbing talent to the team. He put this on show at the Tour of Bright with a strong ride up Tawonga gap where he finished fourth, only bested by some of the most-established climbers in the country.
Marshall said of joining the team “I really wanted to find a team which would provide the right environment to grow. I have a few close friends who rode for the team previously, and they couldn’t speak highly enough of the opportunities and culture -so when I was given the offer it was a no brainer.”
Team Manager Lachie Ambrose thinks that Marshall will be a real asset to the team. “Lachie has already shown that he will fit nicely in with our team, and think that in combination with Dan Siwek we’ll have a pretty potent climbing pairing for next year.”
Stay tuned over the next two weeks as we continue to announce all the details of 2020!
