Coming in hot with a fierce nickname as well as a huge engine, VDR are happy to present our third signing for the 2020 team with Matt Hutchinson joining the roster. Known as “the predator” for his dreadlocks back in the day, Hutchinson comes from a professional triathlon background and has been riding bikes his entire life.
Originally from across the Tasman, Matt rode his bike 30km to and from school most days. After an injury in 2018 forced him to have some time off, he said he saw the greener side of racing bikes without having to swim before and run after. He hasn’t look back since and has been progressing his way through the local ranks in South Australia.
Working full-time, Hutchinson juggles his commitment to riding but is looking forward to stepping up to NRS level.
“I wanted to join the VDR team as I’ve raced against most the team over the last year and they continuously showed the best sportsmanship. I wanted to be a part of that and help the guys out as much as I could”
The team are equally as excited to have recruited Hutchison with his huge watts and TT style of riding from his triathlon days sure to shape up well for the faster men of the team. Don’t be surprised to see Matt as a key part of the lead out train or chasing down breakaways both at NRS level and the local scene.
Keep an eye out for more announcements as we finalise our roster coming into a big 2020!
